If you’ve been affected by the Oculentis recall and you’ve yet to speak to our specialist team about compensation, please get in touch as soon as you can.
With medical product claims like this, there can be a number of timeframes that you may fall foul of if you don’t launch legal action quickly enough. With some people who are having problems not suffering any issues until more than five years post-surgery, we need to be careful when calculating the limitation dates to claim.
Our advice is always the same: start a compensation case as soon you can. You may be eligible to claim compensation if you’re affected by the Oculentis recall, so there’s no need to wait.
Are you affected by the Oculentis recall?
You may have been affected by the Oculentis recall if you’re suffering opacification (cloudiness / blind spots) having had one of their intraocular lenses surgically implanted.
Phosphate that was previously used in a cleaning agent during the manufacturing process could be the cause of calcification in the lenses, and this could cause opacification problems. You may need to have corrective surgery for the lens to be replaced, which is risky, and will likely result in pain, suffering and loss of amenity.
An initial Oculentis recall was triggered a few years ago, and safety notices were updated and issued at the end of 2017.
Can you claim compensation as a victim of the Oculentis recall?
You may be eligible to claim compensation as a victim of the Oculentis recall. Although the costs of revision surgeries are sometimes being covered by Oculentis, victims can also be eligible to claim additional damages as well.
You could claim General Damages for the pain, suffering and loss of amenity for having to go through further surgery through no fault of your own. You could also be eligible to claim Special Damages which can cover any losses and expenses (for example, lost earnings from time off work in the post-surgery period).
